Proud of our heritage
Greenfield traces its roots to 1905, when a
group of far-sighted pioneers sensed the
profound effect that water would have on
the Salinas Valley. Their system of canals,
fed from the Arroyo Seco River, foretold
the immense potential of the fertile fields
which surround Greenfield.
Shopping with friends
Greenfield's tree-lined central business district offers a pleasant
place to shop. Santa Lucia Square was Southern Monterey County's
first shopping center, evidence of the community's central location
among Salinas Valley communities
Head for the hills
To the west is Arroyo Seco, Big Sur and the Ventana Wilderness.
To the east, Pinnacles National Monument.
Fresh air, sunshine
Take a drive around Greenfield and you'll see some of the most
fertile farmland in the world. Lettuce, broccoli, tomatoes, wine
grapes and dozens of other products find their way to markets
across America, and around the world. Agriculture is No. 1 in
Monterey County, and Greenfield is proud to be a major contributor.
